BERTILAB the Biotec Division of Berti Piero, one of the largest rabbits slaughter-house of Italy, develops, manufactures and sells a range of biological based materials, extracted from animal organs, for the production of human Medical Device "in vitro" Diagnostic Haemostasis.

The fresh Rabbit Brains, coming directly from the slaughter-house, are handled manually, in compliance with well defined protocols, to guarantee high and consistent intra-batch quality.

BERTILAB have been producing the Rabbit Brain Powder (RBP) for more than 14 years, having achieved a reliable knowledge and expertise in manufacturing the raw material involved in the production of diagnostic reagents for "in vitro" measuring of Prothrombin Time (PT), suitable to the evaluation of extrinsic haemostatic pathway and to monitor the oral anticoagulant therapy (OAT).

BERTILAB powder is suitable to the preparation of reagents that require very low ISI values.

To meet the market demands, BERTI PIERO have introduced also a new product: Phospholipids (Cephalin) from rabbit origin, that can be used successfully in the production of alternative coagulation "in vitro" diagnostic reagents for:
- simultaneous determination of activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (aPTT);
- diagnosis of Lupus Anticoagulant (LA).
